Congratulations to the Zion Lutheran Kearney girl’s XC team on winning the Kearney MS Invitational, held Friday, September 12. According to Coach Torres: our team is small but mighty! All five runners finished in the top 14, four in the top 8! This was the girls' second consecutive meet win!

On Wednesday, September 17 the whole school attended an assembly on Emergency situations. Officer Schwarz started the assembly by introducing us to his Police K9, Kuba. We learned how Kuba and Officer Schwarz work together to keep our community safe. Next, Mrs. Marquardt taught us what action steps students can take in case of an emergency such as fire, tornado, an intruder or a dog on the playground. Our school has worked diligently to learn these protocols and visuals that are used in every school in our community.

The new turf project is done! Its time to celebrate - the Zion Board of Ed will be hosting their annual Back-to-School BBQ on the evening of Sept. 25 from 5-7 p.m. We will have hamburgers & hotdogs and a bounce house! Join us!
The Zion Golf Scramble will be on Sunday, September 21st at 1pm! It will be held at Elks Country Golf. There are two divisions: Adult and Youth/Adult. Good golf skills are not required! Registration forms are available at the office.

There are delicious Colorado peaches for sale in the north parking lot! We will be selling today until 1pm and again from 3pm-6pm. The price is $48/lug.
We are excited to welcome all our K-8 students for our first day of school tomorrow. To celebrate the first day of school, Tropical Sno will be at the Zion parking lot from 11:15-12:30 on Wednesday the 13th. One size available for $5. Cash only.
We are a week away from the first day of school! Due to field turf installation, there will be no back-to-school night. We will have a special night to celebrate once it has been installed. The school will be open from 9-4 next Tuesday. Families are welcome to bring in children to tour and drop off school supplies if desired. It'll be strange to start without the usual festivities, but it'll be worth the wait!

On Saturday, May 17th, Zion has athletes participating in the Nebraska Middle School Track Championship.
Sofia, Erin, Sarah, Madi (w/ Teagan as alternate) will be competing in the 4x8 Relay
Madi will also be running in the 400 and 800
The girls run at 12:30 and then Madi is projected to run the 400 at 2:35pm and the 800 at 3:55pm.
