Middle Level Education

At Zion Lutheran School we are pleased to start a new middle school program!  This year our school will add the sixth grade into our program offerings, with the intent to add a grade each year until 8th grade.  Studies have shown that the stand-alone middle school model is not ideal for these adolescents.  In fact studies show that students that attend school in a K-8 setting learn far more than those in the the stand-alone middle school settings.  Click on the following link to read a summary of the research: Middle Schools Fail Kids, Study Says from the Wall Street Journal.

Middle School

Schedule:  The middle school classes of grades 6-7 operate on the same full-time schedule as the Kindergarten through 4th grades.  Class meets daily Monday through Friday from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm.

Class size: Zion offers a combined grade class which is comprised of 6th/7th grade students.  Class size varies. Curious about the small class size and the nature of the combined class?  Keep reading!

Student/teacher ratio: 13:1

Cost: $3500 a year.  Don’t let this number scare you, we offer scholarships and tuition assistance to those who would like to send their child to Zion but are unable to afford it.  We never want finances to be a deterrent to a family wanting to send their child to Zion.

Teachers:  Mr. Splittgerber will teach the 6th/7th grade class.

Special note: This is a combined grade class.  Mr. Splittgerber has taught a variety of grade combinations and he looks forward to reimplementing the middle school program with this class.
